In addition to finishing 6th at the 1997 SCCA National Championships, Webb set the Spec Racer Ford track record at Laguna Seca.

At Lime Rock Park in the summer of 1990, in Webb's second race (and in a rental car no less!) he had the biggest road racing crash of his career. At the end of the first lap, Webb went off the outside of the downhill turn leading onto the front straight after making a pass under the bridge. He hit a big rut and shot straight across the track flat in top gear. About this incident, Webb recalls, "I don't remember the impact. I remember waking up and trying to start the car. The corner workers wouldn't let me!"

One dazed driver and one very messed-up Spec Racer.

Webb's SRF in its early silver and burgundy days. No scratches yet!

Here is Webb on the grid with his faithful engineer Joe Smith before setting the Spec Racer Ford track record at Laguna Seca in 1997. Joe left the team in 1998 to design Champ Car wings for Swift Engineering.

This is the famous Laguna Seca Corkscrew. You turn the wheel left and dive over a completely blind ledge. Truly one of the best turns on any track.

Here is Webb, scientifically testing the optimum slip angle through the Keyhole at Mid-Ohio during qualifying for the 1997 Valvoline Runoffs (SCCA National Championships). The team qualified 7th and finished 6th.
